30 Day Happiness Challenge: Day 4

Meditation

When I sat down at the desk to work this morning, I thought, “Oh, how do I have ten extra minutes before I need to get to work?” and then I remembered that I hadn’t meditated yet. I set about correcting that error and got about seven minutes in when Theo woke up and wanted to hang out with me. I’m going to try to do a little more before I go to sleep, but no promises.

Exercise

I did the standard walk with just a small dose (like a pinch in a recipe) of jogging. Just enough to remind me how badly out of shape I am. Just enough to remind me that I should be jogging more.

Gratitude

  1. I am grateful for the sun. Yes, I know what I said yesterday, but there is nothing like a little sunshine to keep you from that oversaturated feeling brought on by several days of thunderstorms.
  2. I’m grateful that our thunderstorms haven’t been the kind that spin off tornadoes or destroy property on their own.
  3. I’m grateful that today is Friday. I don’t think that requires an explanation.

Kindness

I was kind to Rory, the dog, tonight. I let her hang out with me even though she was freaking out over thunder, even though that sometimes means she will try to claw her way through my back. I know what you’re thinking, but A) of course kindness toward animals counts; and B) I really do want to improve on this one.

Something good from today

Despite being worried about whether or not the weather would interfere with my plans, exercise and other, I was surprised by a pretty nice day. This is why I don’t pay much attention to the weather forecast. And why I try not to worry about stuff I can’t change. Today (and yesterday, actually) was a good reminder of that.

I promise these won’t all be about the rain or not rain in the future. Have a great weekend.
