Alcolytes and Writers: Waiting for Gods, Waiting for Recognition

Sun flare through trees; courtesy of picjumbo.comI’m putting my proverbial money where my literal mouth is.

Yesterday, I claimed that sharing is better than hoarding. So, I thought I would follow my own advice. I recently read Is This the Proper Response to Fame by Demian Farnworth on his blog, The CopyBot. Demian’s focus is copywriting, but his advice is often applicable across the board.

In this case, he compares the role of the alcolyte with that of the writer. While the alcolyte waits for the gods to appear, we wait for recognition. (He says fame, but I’m keeping my sights a little lower.)

I don’t think there’s much need to comment further. I think his analogy is pretty much spot on. Take a look and let me know what you think.
